Myself

Hi, I'm Gavin, current student of Singapore Institute of Technology and I'm passionate about programming and finance!
I discovered programming when I was researching about quantitative finance in November 2020 during my National Service. That was when I was hooked onto building new projects and started delving deeper into different programming languages. I would learn mainly by following online tutorials and trying to apply what I have learnt into new projects. I also enjoy following Leicester City Football Club and listening to rock music in my free time!

Algo Trading Picture
Semi-Automated Trading Bot / Scanner

ReversionSys

Developed a mean reversion trading system based on the Standard & Poor's 500 (S&P500) stocks using a quantitative software (Amibroker). Then assembled a semi automatic trading bot to scan and automate orders using Interactive Broker's TWS API.

Soccer Data WebScraper

SoccerScrap

Built a webscraper to retrieve data from Europe's top five football leagues using Python and BeautifulSoup. Able to access data in league and club format using pandas DataFrames.

Implemented a REST API using Flask's API module. Able to create, read, update and delete simple Pokemon JSON format data by accessing the API.

Milestones

Education & Experience

  • Presbyterian High School

    Took my GCE 'O' Levels, L1R4: 12. Led as Percussion Section Leader for the Chinese Orchestra CCA where we were awarded Distinction for Singapore Youth Festival 2013 and 2015 respectively.

  • Singapore Polytechnic

    Pursued a Diploma in Music and Audio Technology, GPA: 3.15. Participated in National Arts Council's 2017 NOISE Mentorship Program with my band Banana Suicide Forest, Esplanade's All Things New 2019 and Singapore Drum Off 2018 (Grand Finalist).

  • National Service

    Enlisted into the Singapore Armed Forces. Proceeded to serve as a Signal Operator.

  • Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

    Freshly matriculated student at SIT's Bachelor of Engineering in Information and Communications Technology (Software Engineering) degree program.

My capabilities and hobbies

Technical

Proficient in MS Office(Word, Excel and PowerPoint) . Some programming languages I know are Python, C, C++, HTML, CSS. Also familiar with Git/Github, Visual Studio Code

Languages

Fluent English and conversational Chinese. Picked up Chinese as my Mother Tongue language in Primary and Secondary School.

Interests

Music performance, investing and football. Picked up music performance and football before studying my Diploma in polytechnic, and investing in National Service.
